Four years ago, I started this monthly live call because I HATED going to general Q&As.

You know the ones. Where people ask basic-ass questions and get basic-ass answers. Where there’s no way to dig into the details of anyone's story. Where the answers are the kind of thing you could Google and read a dozen blog posts about.

I wanted someone to get specific. And if I was going to be the editor on the A side of the Q&A, I wanted to answer a specific question that addressed a specific problem within a specific story. Because I know that’s what I wanted and needed as a writer on the Q side.

Be the change you want to see, they said.

No More Basic-Ass Answers

So for the last four years, I’ve had the most fun ever talking with writers about their stories. I get to hear about their characters and plot, about what matters to them in their story, about what they want the story to feel like for their reader, and of course, about what is driving them crazy right now. And then we talk through it together.

And when we dig into someone’s story—when we get specific— everyone on the call finds connections to their own work-in-progress.

No matter what, we all find a way forward.

That’s because the more specific we can be, the more universal the principles are. By serving the individual needs, we'll serve everyone on the call.

My superpower is orienting to writers' stories really quickly. Ask me a question and tell me a bit about your story, and I'll be able to workshop you to your next right step. There's no generic advice here. Everything we do will be hyper-specific to YOUR story (and the stories of everyone in the room).

We’re here to solve specific writing challenges together and have a lot of fun along the way.

A full call of fellow writers means even more great ideas and questions and insights emerge. You get the brain trust in a group setting—everyone solving stories together. When someone is being coached or has a question, it's all hands on deck.

We're all here to help this person get their question answered in whatever way they need.
